Leading cause of injury

Published on February 26th, 2026

“Advice” on Facebook from THAT SAILING LIFE:

The leading cause of injury in old sailors isn’t the sea. It’s ego. There’s a certain grin that comes with trimming sails in 20 knots. A memory of how it felt at 35. The body may argue, but the spirit still thinks it can outwork a squall. Age doesn’t mean you stop sailing. It just means you sail smarter—and maybe stretch first.
