Standing by for more madness
Published on March 30th, 2026
There was no shortage of madness as the 2026 College Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament whittled down the 16 remaining teams to the final four. The schedule began with a thriller between Purdue and Texas and ended in a game of the ages between UConn and Duke.
To be the best baller in sailing, you must anticipate the next shift, and the 2026 Scuttleball competitors were not in on Duke. Despite being the tournament’s overall #1 seed, memories of Duke’s collapse in 2025 must linger, and them booting a 19 point lead this year was worse.
The Scuttleball rankings remain largely unchanged at the top with Ben Capuco (Michigan), Ken Redler (Purdue), Jack Kunze (Arizona), and Nick Mauprivez (Arizona) continuing in that order, with only Doug Steffenson (Iowa State) dropping to 10th, replaced by Paul Toole (Houston) in 5th.
But it could be David Florence (UConn) in 6th that slingshots to the title, as only he has both of his Finals teams (UConn and Michigan) still alive. The outcome of the games on April 4 – UConn (2) against Illinois (3) and Michigan (1) versus Arizona (1) – will change everything.
Florence trails Capuco by 29 points, and as Scuttleball scoring increases with each round, no lead is safe. Standing by for more madness.
