Sailing, motherhood, and road to LA 2028

Published on April 16th, 2026

Olympian Sarah Newberry Moore has launched a new YouTube series, UnMoored, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the journey toward the LA 2028 Olympic Games. The fourth-generation Miamian navigates high performance foiling in the Mixed Multihull event and motherhood while building her campaign from the ground up.

At the center of the series is her partnership with Hoel Menard, a 22 year old athlete from the San Francisco Bay Area who emerges as a main character alongside her. The early episodes follow the crew selection process and the moment their paths align, setting the foundation for a shared pursuit of the Olympic goal.

Blending cinematic water footage shot by Dane Wilson, who also directs the series with intimate, candid storytelling, UnMoored leans into the emotional and psychological landscape behind elite sport. It captures the in between moments, the uncertainty, the conversations, and the weight of decisions, alongside the realities of raising a two children while pursuing an Olympic goal.

Through both Sarah and Hoel’s perspectives, the series explores what it takes to perform and succeed at a high level while balancing the demands of sport with life beyond it. At the same time, it brings viewers into the sport itself, breaking down the speed, strategy, and intensity of foiling in a way that is accessible and engaging.

“Olympic sport is about performing at the highest level,” said Newberry Moore. “But the performer is also a parent, a partner, a student, a teammate, and a human. UnMoored is about what it takes to hold all of that at once.”

Newberry Moore competed in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and won silver at the 2023 Pan American Games.
