Robles wins Lightning Canadian Open

Sunny skies, solid breeze, and wonderful sailing conditions greeted the 43 teams competing in the 2026 Lightning Canadian Open Championship hosted by the Buffalo Canoe Club July 10-12.

Current World Champion Felipe Robles, Paula Herman, Pipa Cisternas (CHI) bested a highly competitive fleet winning the championship. Two time World Champion David Starck, Jenna Probst and Monica Morgan (USA) were second, while Daniel Glomb sailing with Bruna Patricio, Larissa Bunsen (BRA) were third overall. Rounding out the top 5 were Augie Diaz sailing with Elizabeth Starck and Katherine Starck, followed by Jose Hackerott with his crew, Maria Hackerott and Heloise Gildemeister.

The regatta also served as the first of three country qualifying events for the 2027 Pan American Games to be held in Lima, Peru. The top Canadian team was Jamie Allan and crew from Montreal.
