Canada’s largest keelboat regatta

As Canada’s largest keelboat regatta, the 2026 Chester Race Week returns to the waters of Mahone Bay on August 12-15 in Chester, Nova Scotia.
This year, the event hosts the Farr 30 Canadian National Championship, and anticipates a strong showing from the growing J/105 fleet, with twelve boats registered.
“The conditions on Mahone Bay are never the same twice,” comments Daniel Conrod, Race Chair. “Sailors have to constantly adapt to changing wind and current, which makes for exciting, tactical racing and spectacular viewing from shore. It’s one of the reasons Chester Race Week has earned such a strong reputation across North America.”
Opening Day promises to be especially memorable with the anticipated arrival of Bluenose II in the Chester mooring field. The iconic schooner will fire the ceremonial cannon at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 12th to officially open the regatta.
“Chester Race Week is so unique in its combination of exceptional sailing, celebrating the local community, and ultimately creating economic impact,” says Jennifer Chandler, Commodore, Chester Yacht Club.
“This iconic event really showcases everything that makes Chester such a special destination. Whether you’re racing, cheering from shore, enjoying live music, or shopping the local market, there’s something for everyone.”
