Traffic fears mount for LA 2028

Scuttlebutt HQ is in California, 120 miles south of Los Angeles, a distance best driven at dark. Once the sun is up, traffic is too. In anticipation of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, we have internally giggled at the organizer’s effort for a car-free and traffic jam-free Games.

We suspect it was something they promised the International Olympic Committee during the selection process. All campaigning cities do it, and sometimes they follow through. Rio 2016 never cleaned Guanabara Bay. Paris 2024 did clean the Seine River…barely!

When you consider there may be 1 to 1.5 million people traveling to Los Angeles, and upwards of 15 million attending events, that’s more cars than usual. It reminds us of the old joke about how living in California is like a bowl of granola because “what ain’t fruits or nuts, is flakes”.

Now the state, which has a rocky relationship with the federal government, is ready to deflect blame for their (over?) promise. – Full report
