Calling for modernization of 2032 Games

Published on September 11th, 2026

The final list of sports and disciplines for Brisbane 2032 has not yet been finalized, and while Sailing is expected to remain an Olympic sport, the number of medal events, and the equipment to be used, have not yet been confirmed.

Kieren Perkins has called on the International Olympic Committee to think about the long-term sustainability of the Games.

“I would wager, if that program doesn’t look different, then yes, we should start to worry,” he said, adding that while there are some traditional sports that are dearly loved, “they have no modern relevance whatsoever.” – Full report
