College Season 2026-27, Week 5

Published on October 7th, 2026

College sailing entered October with a bang in Week 5, as conference match race championships on both coasts produced decisive winners, Brown added four more trophies to a remarkable fall, and Harvard signaled that its women’s program is ready to contend. Meanwhile, a Week 2 result from the SAISA North finally hit the books, with South Carolina taking the win.

Brown’s fall has been nothing short of extraordinary. The Bears won the Danmark Trophy at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with 139 points, holding off Stanford (149) and Navy (165) in a fleet of 19 teams sailed in 420s on the Thames River. Day one’s 5-12 knot northeasterly was shifty and unpredictable, and the top four teams were separated by just three points overnight. Brown and Stanford pulled clear on a tricky day two, which began in a 5-10 knot east-northeasterly before the breeze faded and settled at 4-5 knots from the east. – Full report
