Not just a culinary classic

Scuttlebutt HQ recognizes a lot of holidays. Of course, National Curmudgeon’s Day on January 29, National Margarita Day on February 22, and National Mai Tai Day on August 30. But we never thought about promoting them as a regatta.

Theme regattas are typically charity fundraisers, but Chelsea Yacht Club (Chelsea, NY) and the Sunfish Class have embraced International Beer and Pizza Day which is celebrated annually on October 9.

This occasion honors the classic culinary pairing of pizza and beer which is so perfect, so legendary, and only served when having serious fun. Brilliantly, it is an excellent reason to race Sunfish on the Hudson River, which in 2026 will be on March 12 (aka, Columbus Day).
