Restoring ocean health for Earth Day

In advance of Earth Day on April 22, Sail Newport is hosting a free online event – ‘Using Green energy and Sailing to Restore Ocean Health’ – on Tuesday, April 20 at 6:00 pm EDT.

Co-moderators Danni Washington (Ocean Advocate and Science Communicator) and Sail Newport’s Executive Director Brad Read will lead a panel of environmental leaders which include Sheldon Whitehouse (US Senator, Rhode Island), Hilary Kotoun (Strategic Communications Manager of 11th Hour Racing), and Tom Burnham (11th Hour Racing Ambassador and professional coach).

Senator Whitehouse will share bi-partisan initiatives to improve the health of the oceans along with updates concerning renewable energy development, work being done in the US Senate’s Ocean Caucus, and the upcoming Global Climate Summit. Additionally, Kotoun and Burnham will provide updates for some of the initiatives put forth by 11th Hour Racing and the wider marine community to restore ocean health.
