Seahorse Sailor of the Month

Published on November 26th, 2025

Seahorse magazine hosts a monthly poll to recognize recent achievement, and Scuttlebutt is leaning in to support North American interests:

TASH BRYANT (AUS)
A fair few lady helms have come close, but the former Australian SailGP tactician goes into the record books as the first female skipper to win a race in the Sydney Harbour 18-Footers League… and those record books extend back more than 90 years. Bryant, plus Tom Needham and Lewis Brake, finished just ahead of multiple world champions Seve Jarvin, Jono Whitty and Cameron McDonald. Good timing as well, Bryant was recently recruited by Athena for AC38 in Naples

LAURA GRONDIN (USA)
The first woman skipper to win the J/70 Worlds – but it’s not first rodeo for a very accomplished team. ‘It took years to get to this, five solid years, to be accurate! What makes us world champions… plugging away with a great team and just keeping on going!!’ So crew plug to Taylor Canfield, Ted Hackney, Ian Liberty and coach Robby Bisi. It was a tight series too and, fortunately for the winners, it included a discard; their score without a drop would have left them down in 13th
