Inland Lake Local Knowledge

Published on August 12th, 2014

Racing on the Inland Lake Yachting Association scow circuit requires knowledge and experience to get a handle on the seemingly random patterns of each sailing venue. These lessons are hard earned, with effort not always rewarded.

Thankfully, the evenings are more easily mastered, with E Scow skipper Derek Packard offering the kind of trusted tips only a twenty-something can provide:

Lake Geneva (WI): Gordy’s for dinner and late night at Chuck’s.
Pewaukee Lake (WI): Michael’s House of Prime and the Pewaukee YC Bar.
Okoboji Lake (IA): Maxwell’s and Captain’s.
Green Lake (WI): Goose Blind.
Minnetonka Lake (MN): All-time favorite is Maynard’s Restaurant on my home lake, the finest lakeside dining in the country.
