Attrition continues for Caribbean 600

(February 22, 2018) – High winds and mighty seas continued for the 2018 RORC Caribbean 600 with half of the 84 starters needing to retire.

After claiming multihull and outright elapsed time honors yesterday, Peter Aschenbrenner’s 63ft trimaran Paradox was confirmed today as the overall winner in the multihull category of the 2018 RORC Caribbean 600.

French skipper Catherine Pourre, racing Eärendil has won the Class40 division today, setting a new elapsed record of 2 days 13 hours and 15 seconds, breaking the previous record set by Gonzalo Botin’s Spanish Tales II in 2016 by over three hours.

Philippe Frantz French NM43 Albator has finished the race and is the provisional winner of IRC One.

George David’s Rambler 88 remains in pole position for RORC Caribbean 600 Trophy for the best corrected time under IRC but won’t be finalized until more of the fleet complete the course.

Getting underway on February 19, the RORC Caribbean 600 starts and finishes in Antigua with the 600 nm course carrying the fleet around 11 Caribbean islands.
