IOD North American Championship 2019

Published on June 29th, 2019

Ted Murphy’s “Restless/Chester” team representing the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron captured the International One Design North American Championship held June 28-29 in Nantucket, MA.

Thirteen teams participated in the international event, which saw one race completed in painfully light breeze on day one, won by Patrick Cooper’s “Bermuda1” team representing the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club ahead of Restless/Chester.

Two challenging races were completed on day two before the southwest wind exceeded the class limit, both won by Restless/Chester. The home club Team “Mike” skippered by Dan MacKeigan scored 3-2-3 to place second for the regatta ahead of Manhattan Yacht Club’s Caner Dinlec in third.

This is Murphy’s first time winning the Officers’ Perpetual Trophy at the IOD North Americans, which next year will be hosted by the Marblehead fleet.
