Injured crew in Figawi Race

A participant in the 42nd Annual Figawi Race Weekend was injured about 12 miles from shore shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday, when he was struck in the head by the spinnaker pole. A nearby RIB brought the man to the end of the Hyannisport jetty, where the Hyannis Fire Department’s emergency personnel were waiting. The injuries included a laceration to the head, but were not believed to be life-threatening. Figawi Race Weekend hosted 192 boats in a pursuit style sailing race from Hyannis to Nantucket on Saturday, May 25. – Event website
