VIDEO: The Making of Black Pearl

Published on January 25th, 2018

The enigmatic 106.8 metre Oceanco sailing yacht Black Pearl was launched in September 2016 after which she underwent extensive sea trials in the following months.

Black Pearl was developed in collaboration with an all-star cast of designers — Dykstra Naval Architects, Ken Freivokh, Nuvolari Lenard, BMT Nigel Gee and Gerard P. Villate all contributed their respective expertise — and her delivery is one of the most hotly anticipated yachting milestones of 2017.

Black Pearl is a tri-deck sailing yacht and was built from a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. Accommodation for 12 guests is split across six cabins and her 15 metre beam allows for a total interior volume of 2,700GT.

Auxiliary power comes from a pair of MTU 12V2000M72 diesel engines for a top speed of 17.5 knots. Built to Lloyd’s Registry standards, further details are few and far between, with Oceanco remaining tight-lipped about this spectacular sailing yacht project.
