Second Half for 2018 Grand Slam Series

The third stop of the 2018 Grand Slam Series brings nine teams from six countries to the Oakcliff International, being held September 6-9 in Oyster Bay, NY.

Back on the helm is five-time US match racing champion Dave Perry (USA) with a team that consists of Peter Bailey, main trimmer and tactician for Pearson Potts during his winning run at last year’s US Match Racing Championship; and two of the top youth match racers in the country – Max Brennan and Daniel Pegg, both key members of teams with top three finishes at the Rose Cup, the US Youth Match Racing championship.

Also competing is Anna Östling (SWE), the 2016 Women’s Match Racing World Champion, as the only all-female team. Anna is also keeping her family involved in the sport, traveling with her husband and family which includes five-month old son, Harry.

Peter Holz (USA), a regular Oakcliff competitor who took fourth at last year’s event will compete with the Windy City Racing Team.

Adding to the elite competition is Patryck Zboja (POL) who is currently the 8th ranked match racer in the world the highest at this regatta. Also competing is Will Boulden (AUS), a young Aussie ranked 16th in the world and boasts four Grade 2 wins.

Background:
The 8th edition of the Grand Slam Series brings together four Grade 2 match racing events in 2018, offering a compact circuit in August and September to attract top ranked foreign sailors to the U.S. and provide North American match racers with high level competition. Additionally, the winner of the series gets an invitation to the 2019 Congressional Cup, the only World Sailing Grade One Match Race event in the USA.
