Shot clock ticking for #Scuttleball 2019

Published on March 20th, 2019

March Madness 2019 is officially upon us. Over the next three weeks, the top 68 men’s college basketball teams will slug it out in a winner-take-all, single-elimination bracket, culminating in the national championship on April 8 in Minneapolis.

We want you to join the madness by playing Scuttleball, the tournament pool where sailors go to ball.

While winners earn bragging rights and prizes, all entry fees this year go towards The Warrior Sailing Program which provides maritime education and outreach for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans.

Feeling clueless? Here’s some intel…

Duke is the No. 1 overall seed and has looked fierce down the stretch now that the Blue Devils have Zion Williamson back in the lineup after missing time with a knee injury. History is on their side too, as four of Duke’s five NCAA Tournament titles came as a 1-seed.

However, fellow top seeds North Carolina, Gonzaga and Virginia, as well as formidable contenders like Kentucky, Michigan and Texas Tech will be looking for their own fairy tale ending with a deep run in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

ESPN’s 29 college basketball contributors have filled out their brackets …here’s a look at all of their Final Four predictions, as well as the group’s picks to win the national championship:

EAST: Duke 24, Michigan State 4, Virginia Tech 1
WEST: Gonzaga 14, Michigan 7, Texas Tech 5, Buffalo 1, Florida State 1, Murray State 1
SOUTH: Virginia 18, Tennessee 10, Villanova 1
MIDWEST: North Carolina 15, Kentucky 12, Houston 2

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: Duke 15, Gonzaga 5, Virginia 4, North Carolina 3, Kentucky 1, Michigan State 1

But the shot clock is ticking for you to sign-up…

HOW TO ENTER:
You need to submit your picks on the CBS Sports site no later than 12:00 pm EDT, Thursday, March 21st (updated from 10am). Click on the CBS Scuttleball pool link… you do not need to know ANYTHING about basketball to play (and some say it’s even better to just guess anyhow).

HOW TO PAY:
Your entry fee of $20 (per set of picks) must be submitted separately, but no later than Thursday, March 28th. If you miss the deadline you will be removed from the pool. NO EXCEPTIONS.

It’s easiest for all if you pay with Paypal via this link… https://www.paypal.me/SocialNav

Please add on $2 for using PayPal to cover their fees. If you prefer to pay by check please mail it to:

HOW TO WIN:
To inform the #veterans of the pool, winning Scuttleball still gets you all the fame and notoriety of the glory years of old – like our 2018 winner Kris Matthews! Of course, if you pull off the DFL you will get chastised for a full year (poor Smitty), but still walk away and a free lifetime subscription to Scuttlebutt Sailing News.
