Scuttlebutt Sailing Club success stories

Published on August 23rd, 2021

When Scuttlebutt Sailing Club was founded, it was a reaction to a requirement within the 2001-2004 Racing Rules of Sailing that anyone on a racing boat – skipper and crew – be members of a club recognized by a national sailing authority.

While this requirement was soon amended, SSC continues on as the official club of Scuttlebutt Sailing News, and it is always a thrill to highlight the success of club members.

At the 2021 Star North Americans, SSC member Andy MacDonald along with Brad Nichol were fifth overall and won the Exalted Grand Master division for skippers 70 years and over.

Runner-up at the 2021 U.S. Women’s Match Racing Championship was SSC member Janel Zarkowsky who teamed with Annabelle Ayer, Madeline Gill, and Rose Edwards (above).
