Foiling from Los Angeles and Honolulu

Alain Thébault and his teammates Jean Le Cam and Yves Parlier announced they will try to beat the record of the 2215nm Transpacific crossing between Los Angeles and Honolulu. Their foiling boat, Hydroptere, is based in Alameda, CA, and is currently undergoing a complete check-up before being launched in early May. She will then be brought to Los Angeles where she will be positioned in standby by the end of May for the record. The current record of 4d 19h 31m 37s was set in 2005 by Olivier de Kersauson (FRA) and crew on the 90-foot trimaran Geronimo. – Full report
