Blind Sailing Worlds

The IFDS Blind Sailing World and International Championship 2013, organized by Seabournia Yacht Club in Sagawa Bay, Miura Peninsula, Japan, was held May 26-June 1. Fifteen races were completed in winds varying from light to sufficiently strong to cancel racing. After Classification into one of the three Vision Impaired Classes (B1, B2, B3), the 19 teams each had blind skippers helming the J/24s with vocal guidance from a sighted tactician, with sail trim done by a vision impaired crew on the mainsheet and a sighted crew on the jib. – Full story
