Day 2 Lightning North American Championships

(August 20, 2013) – Long Island Sound treated sailors to breeze once again today! Another beautiful day with 6-10 knots from the South/Southwest. The final races of the qualifying series were completed. Debbie Probst, Jenna Probst and Mikayla Warde from the Buffalo Canoe Club won the Blue Fleet Race while Charlie Wardwell, Colin Kirby and Lisbet Kugler from the Virginia Island Sailing Association won the Green Fleet. Matt Fisher, Stu Fisher and Adam MacDonald won the Yellow Fleet Race.

These races completed the 4 race qualifying series. With each competitors worse score discarded, Tito Gonzalez, Trinidad Gonzalez and Cristian Herman remained on top of the 58 boat fleet and won the overall Qualifying Series. The Fleet is now split into the Championship and President’s Cup Divisions with six races scheduled. The slate is wiped clean and racing begins again tomorrow.
