Seeking assistance in locating Lightning #1794

I have hopes that someone can assist me in locating a Lightning family sail boat.

My father is a former owner of a Lightning hull/sail number 1794. I am told it was built around 1948. I am searching for the current owner of this boat as I have interest in finding it for personal reasons.

My dad refurbished this boat in the early 60’s. He sold it to Harold Eiseman in 1972. Harold sold it in 1977 or 78 to a party in Guthrie OK. I am hoping to find this boat as my father has recently passed away and he wants his ashes scattered at sea. It would be very meaningful to me to find the boat we spent many summers working and sailing and use it for this purpose.

I have contacted many marinas in Oklahoma’s largest lakes and have many more lakes and marinas to contact. I have also contacted some sailboat repair and sales facilities.

The state of OK registration office can only confirm that the boat was registered in Guthrie in 1978. I have included a couple of pictures of the boat from 1974. It had a distinctive paint job of ‘waves’ on the bow and stern. I am sure paint job has not survived but I am hopeful that the boat is sailing somewhere.

I am very grateful for any assistance. I can be reached at sarahksmyth@yahoo.com
