Ft. Lauderdale to Key West Race

Published on January 15th, 2014

(January 15, 2014) – A strong WNW breeze made for a positively raucous start today for the 35 entrants in the 160 mile Ft. Lauderdale to Key West Race. With one IRC class, three PHRF classes, and one multihull class, teams chose between code zeroes or bigger reaching spinnakers for the most start, decisions complicated by a boost in wind velocity in the middle of the sequence. The tracker shows the F31m Cheekie not racing, while the Cookson 50 Privateer and the HPR Carkeek 40 Spookie vie for the lead. Race website.
