While the NOODs are known to be a one design regatta serving classic buoy courses, the North Rally Race is making its debut at the 2014 San Diego NOOD. In an effort to offer an alternative race model to diversify the participation, this new feature hopes to attract a wider range of sailors to the March event.

The North Rally Race is a one day, random leg, PHRF-scored race geared for new-to-racing sailors, families, custom boats that don’t fit within the one design concept of the NOODs as well as the avid racer that only has one free day.

If you typically sail one design in San Diego, but know someone who might enjoy a few hours on the water followed by a few lies and libations afterward, help spread the word that the NOOD is now for them too.
