New world circuit for hydrofoil kiteboarding

Published on February 24th, 2014

The International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) has launched a new world circuit for hydrofoil kiteboarding calling it the KiteFoil GoldCup. The 4 stop series starts March 13-17 in the Southern part of the Baja California peninsula.

Voted best in the World for Kiteboarding, La Ventana brings $10,000 US dollars prize money and the first 100 points toward the 2014 world ranking. Infamous Race Director Robbie Dean will bring true professionalism to this cutting edge regatta.

This event will be attracting the top hydrofoilers from the “mother land of foilboarding” France and San Francisco Bay Area kiteracers who have been heavily involved in showcasing this new discipline to the sailing media during the 2013 summer motivated by the America’s Cup boats.

Playa Central Beach Club hosts the “La Ventana KiteFoil GoldCup”, a local kiteboarding center that has put an emphasis on sailing in the town and has contributed in making it the western hemisphere’s winter training center for top kiteboarders.

La Ventana has a majestic location with 2 international airports nearby: La Paz and San Jose del Cabo or a 2 day drive from the U.S boarder down highway México 1.

With zero discards on the world tour and the second stop in Silvaplanna, Switzerland in August making a five-month gab in between the first and second stop. The “La Ventana KiteFoil GoldCup” is a must attend regatta for all foilboarders who are training for the chance of the 2014 World Championship title.
