The Twilight Zone

Published on February 25th, 2014

(February 25, 2014) – At 1330, the leading pack in the RORC Caribbean 600 went dark.
Passing Les Saintes on the southwest corner of Guadeloupe, Rambler, Bella Mente and Shockwave went into stealth mode. With their positions, speed and heading no longer visible, the chasing pack of yachts could not use the leaders position reports to gain information about the wind shadow behind Gaudeloupe. The French island is one of the biggest in the central Caribbean and throws out a significant wind shadow.

Over the past five editions, ‘The Twighlight Zone’ behind Guadeloupe has proved to be the nemesis of many yachts and the saviour for others. This year, there is no doubt that the three leading boats will be having a close battle behind closed doors. Rambler cloaked first followed by Bella Mente then Shockwave, however the order they come out in may well change! Read at event website
