NYYC Race Week: Weather causes race cancellation

Newport, RI (July 16, 2014) – Due to the potential for heavy thunderstorms and lightning in the afternoon, the New York Yacht Club Race Committee cancelled Day 1 of racing for Part II of New York Yacht Club Race Week at Newport presented by Rolex. The biennial regatta’s split format hosted 26 classic yachts last weekend (July 12-13) for Part I. Racing for 83 boats in IRC, PHRF and One-Design classes will resume tomorrow (July 17) and continue through Saturday on Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound. Event website – Videos
