Category 3 hurricane hits Cabo San Lucas

(September 15, 2014) – Hurricane Odile made landfall near Cabo San Lucas, a popular destination for tourism and yacht races, in Baja California Sur around 9:45 p.m. PDT on Sunday as a Category 3 storm with sustained winds at 125 mph. There have been no confirmed deaths but widespread power outages, flooding and wind damage has been reported. Since landfall, Odile has weakened to a Category 1 hurricane. Further weakening will occur as Odile moves slowly northward through Baja California Sur through tonight. Updates.
