VIDEO: On board with Team SCA for the Volvo Ocean Race

Leighton O’Connor joined skipper Sam Davies and Team CSA for a training sail in Alicante, Spain prior to the start of the 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race on Saturday, October 11. “You can tell that this crew has been training together for a long time and for many days,” observed O’Connor. “They are well oiled … very quiet quick team. I don’t think I have ever been on such a quiet boat; I think they can read each other’s minds. I guess that what happens when you log over 400 days and 25,000 practice miles together. They had a special guest on board, Spanish race car championship driver Marta Suria. Marta will be jumping off the stern of SCA after the start of Leg 1 on Saturday. She actually drove a good part of the day and did a nice job. We didn’t hit one guard rail.”
