Are you ready? VOR In Port Race – Cape Town

Published on November 14th, 2014

November 14, 2014 – Are you ready, folks? Because Cape Town is. The seven boats are. And the sailors, too. Racing resumes tomorrow at 1400 local time (1200 UTC) with the second In-Port Race of this 2014-15 edition, in the South African capital.

So, how exactly can you follow this windy, awesome, close inshore racing?

If you’re in Cape Town (lucky you) –

Come visit the race village at the V&A Waterfront! It’s free to enter, and it’s the best way to follow the race. The show starts at 1100 local, with a Sailors Parade at 1145. The boats will dock out from 1200 on, and the show will go on on the big screens.

Pack a lunch and a warm, waterproof jacket, and head down to the beach. You can see the boats from the Bloubergstrand and Big Bay beaches on the north side, and the Green Point beach in the south.

If you’re not in Cape Town (well, thank goodness for the Internet) –

Visit our app, website or You Tube page and follow the live video stream from 1350 until 1505 local. The commentators? Mark Covell, a former Olympic sailor and sailing partner of Ian Walker, and Niall Myant.

Follow us on Twitter, we’ll be tweeting all day, live from the racecourse. Our writers will be on the dock, on the water, and behind our computer screens too.

Our photographers will send pictures live from the sky and the water. Don’t miss them – they’ll be immediately visible on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, the app and the website.

Read, watch, enjoy – we’ll be posting all day on all our platforms. Can’t wait!
