The 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race’s flagship half-hour weekly show, Life at the Extreme, will round up all the action for 39 weeks from start to finish.

This week, the teams’ new recruits get a baptism of fire in the tough Southern Ocean. The fleet takes part in a science project to learn more about this wild part of the world and some of the teams are shaken by the ruthless force of a “Chinese Gybe”. With thousands of miles to go, the Southern Ocean still has plenty in store for the crews.
