Flying Phantom Series 2015 coming to Bermuda

Phantom International and the Royal Bermuda Yacht club will host the final act of the 2015 Flying Phantom Series in Bermuda on November 29-December 2, 2015. An international fleet of Flying Phantoms will come together for 4 days of racing on Bermuda’s Great Sound.

A number of the America’s Cup teams will have established their training bases in Bermuda in time for the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series event in October, where they will remain to prepare to compete for the 2017 America’s Cup.

More than fifteen Flying Phantoms will compete in the event with boats coming from Europe, USA, Canada as well as from Bermuda as Oracle Team USA and Artemis Racing have based their own Flying Phantoms there.

The Flying Phantom Bermuda event is based on an original idea from Tom Slingsby, Oracle Team USA’s Sailing Team Manager, and Philippe Presti, Oracle Team USA’s coach, who experienced for themselves sailing their Flying Phantom on Bermuda’s Great Sound and found that the environment to be perfect venue to run a Flying Phantom regatta. Adam Barboza of America’s Cup Bermuda and members of the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club are involved in the organization of this event, which will be the grand finale to the 2015 Flying Phantom season.

The races will take place in the Great Sound, the large body of water surrounded on almost all sides by the islands of Bermuda, with just seven knots needed for the foiling catamarans to sail at two and half times the real wind speed.

May 1st– May 3rd EUROCAT in Carnac, France: FP One Design racecourse & Long distance race
June 4th – 10th in GENEVA, Switzerland: FP One Design racecourse
June 27th – 28th RAID EMERAUDE in St Lunaire, France: Long distance race
July 1st– 5th FOILING WEEK on Lake Garda, Italy: FP One Design racecourse & Long distance race
September 4th – 6th RAID DES CORSAIRES in St Malo, France: Long distance race
November 29th – December 2nd BERMUDA in Hamilton, Bermuda: FP One Design racecourse & Long distance race
