America’s Cup Teams Descend on Gothenburg

Published on August 26th, 2015

The second gathering of teams for the 35th America’s Cup cycle occurs this week when their tour commences competition on August 29-30 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

“The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Gothenburg is an opportunity for the challengers to put more points on the board that will count towards their elimination series in Bermuda in 2017,” said Russell Coutts, the CEO of the America’s Cup Event Authority.

“In the first event last month in Portsmouth, Ben Ainslie was clearly better than the rest and deserved to win. Peter Burling was also very impressive in his first start for Emirates Team New Zealand,” continued Coutts. “However, I’m sure the others will be looking to improve, none more so than Artemis which has a boat stacked with Olympic champions. They definitely have the talent and they will certainly want to put on a better performance in front of their home crowd in Gothenburg.”

The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series leaderboard is as follows:
Land Rover BAR – 19 points
Emirates Team New Zealand – 18
ORACLE TEAM USA – 16
Groupama Team France – 13
Softbank Team Japan – 13
Artemis Racing – 11

The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Gothenburg is available to view live on television and on mobile devices internationally via the AC app (subject to territorial restrictions). For a full list of viewing options in various territories around the world, click here.

Due to racing being cancelled on day two in Portsmouth because of extreme weather, people that purchased the AC app for viewing at that event will receive a credit toward the event in Gothenburg. Those that qualify do not have to do anything to receive this credit. Prior to racing in Gothenburg, the event will automatically display as having been ‘purchased’ in the app.

The third and final Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series event for 2015 is on October 17-18 in Bermuda.
