Annapolis Sailboat Show on Schedule for Thursday Opening

Published on October 5th, 2015

Annapolis, Maryland (October 5, 2015) – The 46th annual United States Sailboat Show is on schedule for Thursday, October 8th opening. Hurricane Joaquin put quite a scare through the sailing industry intent on participating in the Annapolis Sailboat Show, October 8th -12th, but the hurricane has diverted its path and is expected to miss the east coast.

Media reports had predicted the arrival of Joaquin at precisely the time the Annapolis show is to be constructed with boats moving into the huge temporary marina consisting of 60 temporary pilings, a mile-and-a-half of floating docks, six miles of electrical cable, a temporary water system, fire equipment, and an entire city of tents.

In most years, this equipment does not move into Ego Alley until the weekend prior to opening. This year, in anticipation of a hurricane, show producers implemented contingency plans to ensure the move-in schedule would stay on track by moving in all floating docks, temporary pilings, and infrastructure several days early.

This year’s show is expected to be one of the largest in history with all land spaces sold out weeks ago and docks chock full of all imaginable sailing platforms. Family cruisers, racing sleds, inflatables, day sailors, offshore cruising vessels, and the largest collection of multihulls anywhere will be available for viewing.

All systems are go for the 46th United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis October 8-12, 2015. Full details here.
