VIDEO: Battered in Bay of Biscay

Published on November 11th, 2015

The Bay of Biscay is where famous offshore races such as the Vendee Globe, Mini Transat, and Transat Jacques Vabre begin, but due to its ferociousness, it is often where they end for many too.

Located south of the Celtic Sea., this gulf of the northeast Atlantic Ocean lies along the western coast of France from Brest south to the Spanish border, and the northern coast of Spain west to Cape Ortegal.

Here we see the rescue tug “Nikolay Chiker” enduring the conditions to tow the aircraft carrier “Admiral Kuznetsov” after it lost power in the Bay of Biscay.
