Published on December 23rd, 2015

The World Championship for any one design class is that rare event that offers entrance for one team into an elite group of champions. But when that class boat is also used in the Summer Olympics, the Worlds also becomes a vital step toward a place on an even more historic podium.

That was the case when en elite field of skiff sailors traveled to the 2015 49er and 49erFX World Championship, held November 16-21 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

On the line were two World titles, but the event also had varying Olympic implications. Some of the countries were seeking to still qualify for the Games, with entry slots available at the Worlds. Some countries were also using the Worlds to select their representatives for the Games. For many, doing well at the Worlds meant the fulfillment of a lifelong Olympic dream.

An 11-minute video has been produced to offer a behind the scenes look as the worlds best Skiff sailors prepare for the 2015 49er and 49erFX World Championship in Argentina.
