World Sailing Speed Record Council Ratifies IDEC SPORT Record

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has ratified a new Indian Ocean Intermediate World Record, which spans from Cape Agulhas to the west and Tasmania to the east. Francis Joyon and 5 crew on the 31.5m maxi-trimaran IDEC SPORT covered the distance in 7 days (Dec 5-12, 2015), bettering the previous record of 08:04:45 set by co-skippers Yann Guichard and Dona Bertarelli and 12 crew on the 40m Spindrift 2.
