Record seeker aborts attempt to Hawaii

South African adventurer Chris Bertish wanted to be the first person to sail in an open beach catamaran from San Diego to Oahu, Hawaii. However, following his June 24 departure in a Nacra 20, he is back in San Diego. After enduring 20+ knot winds and cold temperatures during his first 100nm, Bertish decided to end his attempt, returning to San Diego late on June 27.
