Benjamin Holds Lead at Etchells NA’s

Belvedere, CA (October 7, 2016) – The 2016 Etchells North American Championship is being held at the San Francisco Yacht Club October 6-8, 2016. Eight races are scheduled; the racing area is in the vicinity of the Berkeley Circle and/or Southampton Shoal.

Eighteen boats have entered the regatta, hailing from the US and New Zealand. Three races were sailed on Friday under the skies where the Blue Angels were practicing for Fleet Week.

Marvin Beckman with crew Ezra Culver and Chris Lawson did not have the day they hoped for and dropped into seventh overall after their finishes of 3, 15, 5 today.

Steve Benjamin with his team of Michael Menninger, George Peet, and Ian Liberty had two fourth place finishes and a sixth, leaving them in first place overall by 1 point over Team KGB, skippered and crewed by Ben/Senet Kinney/Bishof, Clay Bishof, Ben Kinney. In third with 21 points is Jim Cunningham with crew Jeff Madragali, Mark Ivey, and Bryn Bachman.

Racing will continue through Saturday.
