Major Youth Match Racing Events in 2017

Here is a heads up on three major youth match racing events in 2017:

2017 U.S. Youth Match Racing Championship for the Rose Cup (USYMRC)
The 2017 USYMRC will be sailed June 14 – 18, 2017, at the Fort Worth Boat Club on Eagle Mountain Lake in Fort Worth, Texas in their J/22’s. This event is for sailors 16-20 years old. Skippers will be invited based on resume. Requests for Invitation will be available on the USYMRC website later in January, and are due by April 1, 2017. Note that in 2017 teams at the USYMRC will be required to have four on the boat and must include at least one male and one female sailor.

2017 World Sailing Youth Match Racing World Championship
The 2017 World Sailing Youth Match Racing World Championship will be sailed July 30 – August 5, 2017, at the Balboa Yacht Club in Corona del Mar, California in Governor’s Cup 22’s. This event is for sailors who will not turn 23 in 2017. The skipper representing the U.S. will be invited based on resume. Requests for Invitation will be available on the US Sailing Match Racing website under “Youth Match Racing” by January 1, 2017, and are due by February 15, 2017.

2017 Governor’s Cup
The 2017 Governor’s Cup (the longest running youth international match race) will be sailed July 17- 22, 2017, at the Balboa Yacht Club in Corona del Mar, California in Governor’s Cup 22’s. This event is for sailors who will not turn 23 before July 23, 2017. Skippers will be invited based on resume. Requests for Invitation will be available on the Balboa Yacht Club website under “Youth Sailing” and are due by May 12, 2017.
