Sailing Nominated for Team USA Awards

Each month, the United States Olympic Committee celebrates the outstanding achievements of Team USA athletes through the Team USA Awards. For January 2017, there are five nominees in the female and male categories, and three nominees in the team category. A public online vote will determine the winners.

Sailing is represented in the team category:

Stu McNay and Dave Hughes won their fourth Miami world cup medal – and third gold – in the last five years, earning the Sunbrella Golden Torch Award as the top-performing American team.

U.S. Team Relay, Luge
The U.S. earned silver in the team relay, marking thier first-ever world championship luge relay medal and improving Team USA’s overall medal haul to three – a program record and most since 2009.

U.S. Men’s National Junior Team, Ice Hockey
Led by Troy Terry’s shootout heroics, the U.S. men won its fourth IIHF World Junior Championship title, going unbeaten for the first time in tournament history and defeating Canada in the gold-medal game.
