Skunked at Bacardi Cup

Miami, FL (March 6, 2017) – Seventy-two Star teams were greeted today with winds gusting to well over 30 knots, forcing the cancellation of racing for the first day of the 90th Bacardi Cup. Forecast looks favorable for the rest of the week, with racing daily to March 11. This year the Bacardi Cup also counts as an event of the Star Sailors League which is providing live online streaming.

Background: The 90th anniversary of the Bacardi Cup for the Star Class begins on Monday March 5 to 11 in Miami, FL. On Thursday March 9, eight other one-design classes will compete in the 8th annual BACARDI Miami Sailing Week event presented by EFG. Competitors will represent 20 different countries including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Ukraine, Uruguay, Sweden, and Switzerland.
