Centennial edition will be special

The excitement surrounding the 100th Bacardi Cup is already making history. Within the first 24 hours of registration opening on June 15, 140 Star boat teams secured their place in the 2027 event to take place March 8-13 on Biscayne Bay in Miami, FL.
The entry list for the centennial edition already reads like a who’s who of international sailing. Among those entered are six-time consecutive Bacardi Cup champions Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Bruno Prada (POL), 2026 Bacardi Cup champions Paul Cayard and Frithjof Kleen (USA), and 2018 winners Diego Negri and Sergio Lambertenghi (ITA).
The event’s rich history has attracted three-time Bacardi Cup winner Peter Wright, bringing with him a connection to the regatta that spans more than five decades. Wright won his first Bacardi Cup in 1975, sailing with his father, Peter Wright Sr., and capturing the title before his 21st birthday. His return for the 100th edition is a reminder of the unique legacy of an event that has connected generations of sailors since 1927.

Seeing 140 teams commit within the first 24 hours shows just how special this centennial edition will be.”
The current tally is 150 registrants with the event separated from the Bacardi Invitational Regatta in 2027 to accommodate the large fleet.
