USA dominates Marco Rizzotti Trophy

Sixteen international teams competed for the Marco Rizzotti Trophy on May 19-21, the XXXI edition of this Optimist team racing event held in Venice, Italy. Remaining undefeated to win the title was the USA team from Lauderdale Yacht Club of Stephan Baker, Connor Boland, Justin Callahan, Mitchell Callahan, and Sara Schuman.

After particularly intense races with 70 races in 7 and a half hours on day one, bad weather on day two forced the 16 teams from 4 continents to stay onshore. The third and final day dealt with shifting winds but all 120 scheduled races were completed in time, ensuring the face-off of all teams.

Finishing second was the Italian National team with third place held by the USA team from LISOT New York with sailors Torrey Chisari, Owen Hennessey, Vanessa Larh Kamp, Will Priebe, and Jack Solmo.
