Top Teams to meet in High School Team Racing Championship

The High School sailing season comes to a close with the Baker Team Racing Championship, to be held May 27-28 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. The Baker Trophy, established in 1990, will determine the best of team racing among the 7 Districts across the USA.

Twelve teams will descend upon ODU and compete in CFJs provided by the university and the Virginia High School Sailing Foundation, with racing to be held near the mouth of the Elizabeth River off of the Old Dominion University docks.

The 2016 Champions, St. George’s School (Middletown, RI), will return to defend their title, but must face the following schools that have advanced from their District qualifiers to represent their respective Districts at the National Championship:

Northwest (1): Orcas High School (Eastsound, WA)
Pacific Coast (2): Point Loma HS (San Diego, CA); Newport Harbor HS (Newport Beach, CA)
New England (2): St. George’s School (Middletown, RI); Milton Academy (Milton, MA)
Mid Atlantic (2): Christchurch School (Christchurch, VA); Mamaroneck High School (Mamaroneck, NY)
South Atlantic (2): Ransom Everglades (Miami, FL); Antilles School (St Thomas, VI)
Midwest (2): Grosse Pointe South High School (Grosse Pointe Farms, MI); St. Ignatius College Prep (Chicago, IL)
Southeast (1): Clear Falls High School (League City, TX)
