Gordon I. Lindemann

Gordon I. Lindemann passed away peacefully June 10, 2017 (1921 – 2017) in Milwaukee, WI.

In 1939, Gordon entered the Navy ROTC, after being admitted to Yale. While at Yale, he was captain of the freshman football team. Gordon was in active service in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific; New Guinea, Mindanao, Leyte, Luzon, Okinawa, and Tianjin. After the war, Gordon completed his education at Marquette University.

Sailing was a big focus for Gordon. He won a 3-time E-Scow National champion, a 2-time ILYA E-Scow Champion, and in 1967, he was the 5.5 Meter World Champion. Along the way there were many Soling victories, including Kiel Week, and Gordon was an early developer of Mylar sails.

Gordon was the father of Gilbert, David, and Elinor, beloved grandfather of five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife Anne and his brothers Walter and Frederick, and sister Marguerite.
