Racing returns for Sunfish Worlds

Published on August 30th, 2017

Brant Beach, NJ (August 30, 2017) – After strong winds sidelined the fleet yesterday, the third day of the Sunfish World Championship started out today with cloudy skies and a bit of a nip in the air but ended up being a near perfect day.

Winds for Races 1 and 2 held pretty steady at 12-15 knots, while winds for Race 3 started out at 11-12 knots but got lighter and lighter as the race wore on. With the wind gods smiling down on us, it blew just hard enough to finish the racers within the time limit.

With six races now completed, preliminary race results show Clemente Sequel of Chile has climbed up from second overall this morning to now the top of the ladder. Tomorrow’s scheduled Lay Day is going to be the Race Day to make up for yesterday’s races which were canceled due to heavy winds.

Racing for 54 competitors representing 10 countries is planned for August 28 to September 1.
