Brian Keane dominates winter opener

Fifty-three J/70 teams competed in the first event of the 2017-2018 Quantum J/70 Winter Series, held December 9-10 to Davis Island Yacht Club in Tampa, FL. Brisk weather made its way south with the passage of a cold front the night before racing beban, bringing breeze into the high 20s on day one but backing off some for the second day.

Seven races were completed with Brian Keane’s Savasana handily taking the victory at 13 net points including two bullets. Darby Smith’s Africa placed second with 35 points, and Bruno Pasquinelli’s Stampede was third with 37. The 21-boat Corinthian division was topped by Mallory and Andrew Loe’s Dime.
