Shot clock is ticking for Scuttleball 2018
Published on March 13th, 2018
The 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament annually provides that three week distraction when sailors pretend they know something about other sports. And to really put reputations on the line, Scuttleball is the tournament pool where sailors go to ball.
But with the first game this Thursday (March 15), it’s time for the head and heart to merge and finalize your bracket. You can overthink this, or you can use several of the Auto-Fill options. This bracket went that route…click here.
With Scuttleball now in its 30th year, 100% of the proceeds this year will go to helping our friend Jim Hahn from Ronstan. Jim was doing what he loved, skiing in Vermont, when he had a catastrophic accident that has left him paralyzed from the waist down.
There are nearly 300 entries for the cause, and since we are not above shaming, click here to see who is missing. Where are the alums from San Diego State, Texas, and Michigan? Attention Greg Fisher, your Cougar ballers need support. Same goes for Skip Whyte and his Rhody Rams.
How about a sailmaker smack down with Doyle Sailmakers (Robbie Doyle), North Sails (Ken Read), Quantum Sails (Ed Reynolds), and UK Sailmaker (Butch Ulmer)? Will Sailing Anarchy’s Scot Tempesta take on Scuttlebutt’s Craig Leweck?
We’ve got Peter Harken signed up, plus Sailing World publisher Sally Helme, and race course studs Taylor Canfield and Geoff Ewenson. Even Donald Trump is entered (allegedly).
Entry deadline is coming fast so…
